Game Board Instructions

The following illustrates what the WBC Game Board looks like and below it are the instructions on how it is to be used.

This board will help to ensure that no one is left waiting to play on the sidelines for long periods of time and that new members & guests get an opportunity to mix with those more familiar with the club.

- After entering the gym, place your membership or temporary card on one of the open clips on the right side of the game board where the individual clips are located.  Cards should be placed on the top row of twelve clips first.  The second row of twelve clips is to be used when the top row is full.

- The person in the first position on the top row gets to pick three other people to make up a game but only from the individuals whose cards are in the top row.  These four cards will then be placed at the Court #1 position.  From the remaining eight cards on the top row, the person farthest to the left then chooses three people to make up a game, which will then occupy Court #2.  The remaining four cards on the top row will occupy Court #3.

- This process is repeated with the individuals in the second row to fill up  Courts # 4 – 6.

- When step #3 is complete, the other members who have not yet chosen or been chosen for a game will then fill in the open twelve clips on the top row and step #2 will repeat.  Games made up here will occupy the first three On Deck spots for games #1-3.

- The process repeats with the second row of twelve clips.  These games occupy On Deck spots, filling in game #4-6.

- Any people at this point who have not chosen or been chosen for a game, should put their membership card on one of the empty clips on the right side of the board starting in the top row.  The above process will repeat as games finish and are cleared from the board.

- As a game ends and a court becomes available, one member from game #1 in the On Deck section will remove the four cards from the cleared court and place each on an open clip on the right side of the board starting with positions in the second row.  That person then calls the members of their game to the appropriate court and moves all other On Deck games up one, leaving an opening at game #6.

- The first person in the top row repeats the process for setting up a game which will occupy the On Deck position under game #6.

** This process is in effect until 8:00 pm and during this time if you are chosen to play in a game you may not refuse to play.  The purpose here is to ensure that the play is mixed and that new club members play with and meet those who have been with the club in previous years.

** After 8:00 pm members may set up games with any player they choose however the games already on court positions and those on deck must be played first.  New games made at this time will occupy either an empty spot in the On Deck section, or may be put on the top row of twelve clips farthest to the left.  These will then be On Deck game # 7, # 8, etc.

*****It is important to note that you must have a group of four cards in order to hold a position On Deck.  Any games that are waiting, and do not have four cards will be removed and placed on one of the two clips in the bottom right hand corner of the board.
